About Me
I’m Victoria, the owner of Voss Massage Therapy.
My path into massage therapy wasn’t something I had fully planned—but looking back, it feels like something I was always being pulled toward.
When I was younger, I was always drawn to helping others feel better physically. Whether it was giving quick shoulder rubs or even trying to “massage” pets, it was something I naturally gravitated toward. I also remember seeing a chiropractor growing up and being exposed early on to the idea that taking care of your body could actually change how you feel.
At the same time, I would notice people as they got older dealing with constant pain, stiffness, and limited mobility—and I knew I didn’t want that for myself. More than that, I wanted to understand how to help people avoid getting to that point.
Even in small ways, I found it rewarding to help someone feel better.
As I got older, I took a different direction and attended Des Moines Area Community College with the intention of becoming a teacher. The further I got into it, the more I realized it wasn’t the right fit for me.
During that time, I experienced both sides of physical strain.
I was working full-time in a factory, putting in long shifts on my feet and doing repetitive work day after day. At the same time, I was also spending hours sitting, typing, and writing for school—feeling it in my hands, wrists, and upper body, especially when I wasn’t getting quality sleep for my body to recover overnight.
That combination gave me a real understanding of how tension builds—and why it doesn’t just fix itself.
I hit a point where I felt stuck and unsure of what direction to take next.
Then one simple conversation changed everything.
A coworker asked what I was going to school for, and that conversation led me to connect with someone in massage therapy. Looking back, it didn’t feel random—it felt like I was being led back to something I had been drawn to all along.
Once I found this field, everything clicked.
I went on to complete my training at Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School, a program known for going beyond the minimum requirements and building a strong, hands-on, clinical foundation.
After graduating, I gained experience working in a high-volume setting at Massage Heights. That environment gave me valuable repetition and exposure to a wide range of clients and conditions—but it also showed me what was missing.
In that setting, portions of the session are set aside for dressing and transitions, which takes away from actual hands-on time. Sessions can feel rushed, and there’s limited flexibility to truly focus on what’s causing the issue.
That experience shaped how I practice today.
It showed me the importance of slowing down, being intentional, and actually spending the time where it matters.
That’s what led me to open Voss Massage Therapy.
Here, if you show up on time, you receive your full session time on the table—without feeling rushed—and there’s space to communicate before and after as needed.
What started as something small when I was younger turned into something much bigger—something that truly feels like my calling.
